Which hand
A regular glove goes on the left hand and the blocker on the right, for a goalie who holds the stick in the right hand. Full right is the mirror: catch with the right, stick in the left. Most goalies use regular; check before ordering because both are sold and returns are awkward.
Catch glove and blocker
CCM and Warrior size gloves by hand length from the heel of the palm to the tip of the middle finger; Warrior sizes the blocker separately in senior medium, large and extra-large. Bauer sizes by level. Fit tests:
- The fingers reach the end of the finger stalls; the hand closes the glove fully.
- The glove cuff meets the arm pad of the chest protector with no gap.
- The blocker board sits centred on the back of the hand and the stick hand grips the paddle comfortably.
Mask
Sized by head circumference like a helmet, but the fit is more precise: the mask must not rotate on impact. Measure 2.5 cm above the eyebrows, compare with the model’s range, and fit with the backplate and straps adjusted. Test by shaking the head; the mask moves with it. Masks must carry a valid certification for organised play and should be replaced after a serious impact.
Goalie skates
Sized like player skates from shoe size, with a wider blade and shallower hollow. Bauer’s run in whole sizes; CCM’s follow the player conversion. See the sharpening guide for the hollow.
