Glove sizing

Gloves are sized in inches, and the size runs from the fingertip to the end of the cuff. The chart measurement is your hand: middle fingertip to the wrist crease.

Fingertip to wrist

Open the hand flat and measure from the tip of the middle finger to the crease of the wrist. Bauer and CCM publish slightly different ranges for the same glove size; the finder shows both. Warrior does not publish a chart, so the finder uses the overlap of the other two.

How it should fit

  • Fingertips reach the end of the glove without pressing. A little space is fine; bunched fingers are not.
  • The palm is snug enough that the stick does not roll inside the glove.
  • You can close the hand fully around the shaft without the glove folding in the wrong place.

The cuff gap

The cuff should meet or slightly overlap the elbow pad. A gap there is the usual reason to go up a size rather than down, and it also depends on how long your elbow pads are; size the two together.

Fit styles

Brands sell tight, tapered and traditional (loose) fits in the same inch size. A tight fit feels connected to the stick; a loose fit gives more mobility and is easier on the hands. Beginners usually prefer a traditional fit.

Common mistakes

  • Sizing gloves by the previous pair’s number without checking that the brand cuts the same.
  • Buying long to close the elbow gap when the real fix is a longer elbow pad.
  • Ignoring the thumb: it should be protected but able to move.
